YUKATA - Simpler Alternative to Western Summer Dress

Yukata is a Japanese summer garment made from the light weight cotton material.  People wearing Yukata are a common sight at summer events such as fireworks displays or bonodori dancing festivals in Japan.  Literally, Yukata means bathing clothes although their use is not limited to it. A simple cotton sash is used for casual daily or nightly wear, and for more formal appearance, a large wider Yukata belt is worn.
